This course aims to build on the skills learned in introductory courses in cultural studies. Students will learn about what shapes Canadian cultural identity, exploring areas such as history, geography, literature, visual art, language and multiculturalism. Special focus is placed on the First Nations and their way of life as seen through aspects of their art, mythology and culture. Social issues will be explored through the relevant readings and discussions.
